Whew we have been up to a lot here at Serenity in Chains! We’ve been sprucing up the studio which included planting a TON of organic produce in our sustainable living garden, and makes some more sustainable living pieces like these adorable mason jar lights! You can pick one up in our Online Store.

If you didn’t know by now, we are very much about having a minimal negativ impact on the earth as we possibly can. Not only does that mean creating products thoughtfully with locally sourced or recycled components, but also growing our own food, and harvesting the power of the elements.
These beautiful Mason Jar Lights were made by Artisan Jan out of recycled canning jars. She wanted some new lighting for her deck, and didn’t want to have to buy expensive solar lighting, or run eco-costly electric lighting. So, she tore apart some solar lights she had, and re-purposed them! After her little tweaks and hacks, they actually appear brighter than the original lights! Plus she’s added customizations like Family names, or designs hand painted in a phosphorescent paint that charges as the lights glow. So even if the light goes out (which it shouldn’t, as a full charge will give 8-10 ours of illumination) these mason jar lights still glow! That means you get not 1 but 2 uses off of one solar charge. Thats like recycling sunshine. Talk about eco friendly!
No, I haven’t forgotten about you all! I promise!
Things have been incredibly busy here. So busy that I have half finished pieces strewn all over the studio, and my living room. It’s kind of a mess. Take this lovely piece, photo above. Yes, it’s another chainmail top! And although more work has been completed on it since, it’s still unfinished. Cool though, huh?

Well, the Supreme Court has taken the first steps to doing that right thing and affirming that equal rights are not dependent on sexual preference!
” [Judge] Kennedy kicked off the public session with his eloquent majority ruling striking down a key part of a federal law that blocks a range of benefits for legally married gay and lesbian couples.” - CNN
It’s about damn time! Listen… I (Michelle, Owner of Serenity in Chains) am not LGBTQ. I’m straight. BUT my business partner IS, and so are several of my very close friends. Without these people I probably wouldn’t be doing this, running my own little successful business. They have supported me through thick and thin. REGARDLESS of my sexual preference. And yet, despite their general kindness, they are not given the same right and liberties I have as a heterosexual woman. It’s wrong. Wrong wrong wrong
**Gets down off the soap box**
So here is a new piece of our PRIDE line.
What is our pride line? It’s a line of Rainbow, Bi Pride, and coming soon Trans Pride colored jewelry that makes a statement. It’s a line We’ve created and dedicated to the fight for equality and tolerance regardless of sexual preference. And it’s pretty.
This set is called ‘Rainbow Rings’ and is a handcrafted pendant necklace and earring set. Very similar to our Mobius Necklaces, but without the twisted rosettes.
Each ‘Rainbow Ring’ consists of baby pink, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet wrapped around a larger silver ring. The pendant is adorned with… well why don’t you just go to our Online Store to read the full description?
Artisan Jan, also known as my mother, has a thing for pretty flying bugs. This lovely piece is called the Crystal Dragonfly. The body is made with sterling silver plated wire wrapped crystals and faux pearls.
The wings are one solid piece of wire that Jan expertly turned, twisted, and formed to give a stable framing to the inner scroll work. It is something that most wire artists don’t bother to do, because it is time consuming and requires a lot of fine tuning of the wire position.
But it makes a solid, stable, and beautiful piece.
This little guy isn’t finished. We’ve taken a Poll on our facebook, and the consensus is that he will be a necklace focal.

Thor is just really cool. He is one of the best known pagan deities, and so is his iconic hammer, or Mjolnir. Thanks to cinema, even small children know Thor and his hammer.
I’ve always been a fan of mythology, so when I stumbled across this design I was psyched! This is the Chainmail Mjolnir, or Thor’s Hammer pendant. contrary to the mythical hammer that only Thor could raise, this miniature rendition is light and comfortable due to the anodized aluminum construction.
I’m also glad to report that while creating this fantastic Thor’s Hammer pendant, I discovered a second design hidden inside the hammer’s construction. But I’ll show you that tomorrow!
Want your own lightning wielding hammer necklace (sans the lightning, sorry)? You can pick own up in our Online Store.
Don’t forget to check out our new and improved Website! There is a ton of new stuff there!
All those rings… Poor Sonic the Hedgehog!
I am a serious glutton for punishment. “It’s so pretty, why is this punishment?” You might ask… Well because I did this dragonscale bikini top all in one sitting….in ONE sitting. How long did it take you ask… Long enough that I couldn’t feel my butt or my hands at the end, and I had to shake the pliers out of my cramped fingers. I’m pretty sure that all I did was grunt at my boyfriend all day, instead of forming words. And I felt a bit like a troll in the dungeon, being n the workshop all day to make this piece of fantastic clothing.
But it was totally worth it!
This Dragon Scale bikini top features large blue and silver scales arranged in a diagonal strip pattern. It is linked together with stainless steel rings, so no rust and no ring separation as you shimmy around in your new scale awesomeness!
This one will fit a B cup, and is meant to be worn over another top or bra (unless your into flashing your girly bits when you bend over, ya know… Each his/her own).
It’s not quite done yet. I need to decide if I’m sticking with a cord strap, maybe in leather… Or if I’m going to be a Maoist and go back for more cramped fingers and make chain straps.
What do you all think?
I’ve been kind of obsessed with the Japanese styles of Chainmaille lately! It’s just so pretty and versatile! Like this Heart if the Ocean Waves necklace! I wish I had more of the heart charms… But sadly I only have one left an your looking at it!
So the moral of the story is… If you want it, snatch it up now from our etsy store!
So I swear I didn’t forget about our tumblr! I’ve just been so busy getting our website revamped, booking shows, creating new pieces, and getting into general shenanigans. So as an apology, here is a beautiful picture of one of Danielle’s new pieces that came in with the Chainmail Horde last week!
